Position Summary:
This role plays a vital part in advancing healthcare workforce development by fostering connections between students, employers, and training opportunities. Key responsibilities include engaging with partners to monitor training progress and collaborating with AHEC staff to ensure curriculum alignment with Nevada Certification Board requirements, supporting the preparation of a well-qualified healthcare workforce. The coordinator facilitates quarterly employer calls to strengthen partnerships, identifies apprenticeship and career development sites, and oversees students during their field placements to ensure meaningful experiential learning opportunities. The role also involves conducting comprehensive student interviews to assess barriers, challenges, and interests, ensuring optimal placement that aligns with healthcare workforce needs. Additional duties include conducting needs assessments, preparing progress reports, collecting and analyzing data, and tracking outcomes to meet grant deliverables. The coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and distributing stipends and scholarships, supporting program participants in their healthcare career journeys.
Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities
● Ensure the CHW I curriculum for both young adult and adult learners remains current and aligned with Nevada Certification Board (NCB) competencies by incorporating new data, updating language, and integrating relevant changes. Collaborate with AHEC leadership and the NCB to secure approval for any updates or modifications.
● Organize and lead quarterly meetings with community partners to recruit employer and apprenticeship sites, enabling students to progress from CHW I to CHW II. Foster and sustain strong relationships with community partner representatives and organizations to support program goals.
● Manage internal systems to track and document all aspects of the CHW program for both young adult and adult participants, ensuring accurate and organized records to support program success, evaluation, and compliance.
● Lead recruitment efforts for employer and apprenticeship sites within the High Sierra AHEC Community Health Worker Certification Program, ensuring positive and productive partnerships with key stakeholders.
● Oversee and serve as a liaison between students and apprenticeship sites to ensure seamless connections to resources and support throughout the Community Health Worker Certification Program.
● Assist the Workforce Development Coordinator and Program Director with conducting needs assessments, compiling comprehensive progress reports, collecting data, tracking outcomes, and performing program evaluations.
● Prepare, modify, and file reports and documentation as necessary, including summaries of activities and incidents, post-program overviews, recommendations for future services, and analysis of overall program effectiveness.
● Build and maintain strong partnerships with workforce departments, key stakeholders, community organizations, and external agencies to support the successful execution of program and grant objectives.

Minimal Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree with a major in primary education, public health, public administration, or related field (a combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement).
· Minimum of one (1) year experience delivering, administering, or developing educational and/or healthcare educational programs, with additional experience in workforce development or related initiatives preferred.
· Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in health promotion, community engagement, research and development, and/or teaching.
· Community Health Worker I certification or ability to complete certification within the first 6 months of employment.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, engage, and inspire others, fostering interest and enthusiasm.
· Strong strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills to assess program outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
· Proficiency with software tools such as Salesforce, GIS, and data analysis platforms, along with experience using design and communication tools like Canva, Piktochart, Constant Contact, and Canvas Learning Management System.
· Demonstrated ability to manage and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.
· Excellent organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
· Collaborative and responsive team player, able to work seamlessly with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.
Work environment:
Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting, evening and weekend hours sometimes required. Must possess ability and willingness to perform job-related travel, majority within the state of Nevada.
License required: Must have valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands:
Occasional physical effort required to lift boxes of supplies or equipment weighing approximately up to 25 pounds; stooping, bending and reaching when stacking boxes and supplies. Demands vision, manual dexterity, sitting long periods of times, writing, typing, grasping, driving and speaking.
