The Entertainment Rigger functions as part of a team to provide for the safe and proper system design, installation, operation and maintenance of all overhead rigging equipment including but not limited to performer flying systems, chain motors, cable hoists, dead hangs, and fall protection equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Ensure safety of employees and guests as it pertains to any element of rigging equipment, systems, and overhead work.
- Work collaboratively with other departments as it pertains to performer flying, rigging, training or any overhead projects.
- Design rigging effects using international standards as a guide where appropriate.
- Perform routine inspections of all rigging equipment and systems.
- Support all Sight & Sound Ministries Inc. rigging related inspections.
- Create, maintain and execute rescue from height procedures for all Sight & Sound Ministries Inc. locations and alternate project sites as needed in concert with the Safety Manager.
- Conduct site surveys and collect measurements for installations.
- Serve other departments requiring rigging expertise.
- Ensure rigging project personnel are adequately trained to operate rigging related equipment in accordance with standards.
- Document rigging systems, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Support the leadership of assigned crew during load in and load out.
- Ability to employ rope access techniques and oversight to install rigging systems.
- Inspect fall arrest and restraint systems, while maintaining the equipment per manufacturer's specifications.
Prerequisites: - An unwavering commitment to the safety of employees and guests.
- Attention to detail, ability to engage in problem solving, conceptualizing, and implementing solutions using appropriate rigging related formulas, equations, and theory to ensure proper rigging applications.
- Experience and knowledge of a wide variety of rigging equipment such as boom lifts, chain motors, cable hoists, fall arrest and restraint systems, performer flying systems, knots, wire rope and cable terminations keeping current with new products and standards used in the industry.
- Team player who is self-motivated and can work in a highly demanding, time-sensitive environment.
- Communicate clearly, effectively collaborate with and be accountable to other team members in a positive manner.
- Ability to work closely with the Design Team taking rigging projects from concept through design to implementation.
