The peer support specialists at Isaiah House are responsible for assisting clients with their recovery needs daily through the sharing of emotional support. They will be required to facilitate groups and meet with clients in a individual setting very frequently, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed in the job description. The qualified individuals must be willing to work any shift with occasional change in weekly schedule.
Job Duties:
Follow all applicable regulations including
908 KAR 2:220. Adult Peer Support Specialist. Complete a ROI with each client that allows the peer support specialist to access the entire clinical chart.
Successfully complete, maintain, and submit a minimum of six (6) hours of related training or education in each subsequent year.
Provide peer support services in an individual and group setting.
Use relevant personal stories to assist clients through experience.
Serve as a role model to the client.
Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of plans.
Support a client by:
(a) Attending team meetings on behalf of the client at the request of the client: or
(b) Accompanying the client to meetings upon the client's request, if applicable.
(c) Empower a client to have the confidence to be a self-advocate.
(d) Help providers or other individuals understand the importance of integrating client voice an choice in services and support within a system of care.
(e) Promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy preservation, and enhancement of community living skills for clients.
Requirements
- Be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Have a current or past diagnosis of a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Have received or be receiving treatment.
- Have a minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Demonstrate a pattern of recovery from mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder.
- Successfully compete adult peer support specialist training approved by the Department.
- Employment with Isaiah House is contingent on the successful passage of a pre-employment drug screen, as well as a background check and completion of an I-9. Failure to take or to pass the drug screen will result in the automatic rescission of any job offer.
