ABOUT THE ROLE –

As SEO Manager you are responsible for developing, planning, implementing and managing our SEO strategy to improve our website’s visibility on search engines. Our online presence is extremely important to our financial success, especially in the tobacco category where we are unable to participate in paid marketing channels.  You play a significant role in driving over 30% of our business.  This is a hands-on role, but also requires someone who can step back, think through, develop the strategy and work collaboratively across the organization to ensure its success.  A key success metric is growing our share of SEO traffic within the category.

 

WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

  • Strategy Development: Develop and execute strategies to increase organic traffic to six different websites (and potentially more through M&A).
  • SEO Roadmap and Prioritization: Ensure development of strategic roadmap, oversee execution, alignment and on-time execution across resources within the organization. 
    • Requires a continuous improvement mindset.  Using results and industry trends to modify strategic roadmap – this is not a one and done strategy.
  • Planning and Forecasting: Develop and report out to stakeholders’ expectations for performance based on current trends and upcoming pipeline of activities.
    • Responsible for ensuring all KPI’s are meeting expectations and mitigations are developed and executed for shortfalls.
  • Industry Trends: Stay on top of and report on industry trends, algorithm changes and impacts on business.   Incorporating these trends into the strategic roadmap as they emerge to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Ensure understanding and monitoring of key competitors.
  • Content Development: Enhance the health of the website via keyword research and content optimization.
  • Team Management: Lead a team of SEO specialists (business which is a direct report and technical as an indirect report – dotted line) and coordinate priorities across other departments such as BI and Merchandising to ensure strategic roadmap is met. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

 

  • You bring a solid mix of strategic thinking, project management, analytical skills, and technical expertise.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Business-related field.
  • 4+ years demonstrated experience leading SEO Marketing, preferably in a PPC restricted industry with proven success.
  • 3+ years of experience building and managing a team.
  • Strong experience with industry-standard tools such as Conductor, SEMRush, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and plenty more.
  • Experience in performing and analyzing A/B, multivariate and other forms of testing.
  • Fundamental understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience in various segmentation and modeling methodologies. 
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, technologies, opportunities, best practices and legislation, and adjusts procedures accordingly.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand business/technical requirements for analysis/reporting purposes interpret data and make actionable business recommendations.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Go-getter and someone who knows how to “figure it out” and “get the job done”.
  • Experience working with IT, Design and Merchandise teams to drive the successful completion of new projects.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage time, priorities, and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in premium cigars and pipe tobacco is a plus, but not required.
