We are seeking a motivated and experienced Dispatcher to join our trucking company. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in dispatching within the transportation or logistics industry and a proven ability to coordinate driver schedules, ensure timely deliveries, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

As a Dispatcher, you will serve as the liaison between the drivers, clients, and internal teams, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, handling logistical issues, and making sure that all shipments are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Planning and Scheduling:
    Coordinate and assign drivers to specific routes, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries. Monitor traffic, weather, and road conditions to proactively adjust schedules.

  • Driver Support:
    Communicate regularly with drivers to provide updates, address concerns, and offer assistance as needed. Ensure drivers are aware of their responsibilities, schedules, and any changes in route or delivery instructions.

  • Fleet Management:
    Maintain accurate records of truck locations, status, and load capacities. Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and alert management about any needed repairs or inspections.

  • Customer Service & Communication:
    Serve as the main point of contact for clients and provide updates on shipment status. Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues related to delays, and ensure high-quality service.

  • Documentation & Compliance:
    Ensure all necessary documentation is completed for each shipment (e.g., Bills of Lading, delivery receipts). Keep track of regulatory compliance requirements, including hours-of-service (HOS) regulations, permits, and other legal requirements.

  • Problem Resolution:
    Quickly resolve any issues that arise, such as delays, route changes, or driver problems, to minimize disruptions to service and customer satisfaction.

  • Data Entry and Reporting:
    Update dispatch software and maintain accurate records of deliveries, routes, and driver performance. Prepare daily/weekly reports for management review.

  • Collaboration with Operations Team:
    Work closely with other departments, including logistics, safety, and accounting, to ensure seamless operations and address any operational challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 2 years of experience as a dispatcher, ideally in the trucking or transportation industry. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) or dispatch software is a plus.

  • Communication Skills:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams.

  • Organizational Skills:
    Excellent multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Problem-Solving:
    Ability to think critically and resolve issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and dispatch software (such as Omnitracs, McLeod, or similar TMS platforms).

  • Knowledge of Transportation Regulations:
    Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance, Hours of Service (HOS), and ELD (Electronic Logging Devices) requirements.

  • Team Player:
    Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team, with a positive and professional attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume dispatch environment.
  • Knowledge of GPS tracking systems and fleet management tools.
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) may be a plus.
